General Election 2010

The General Election was held on 6 May 2010.  The results can be viewed below, together with other relevant Notices and information regarding the Election.

Parliamentary constituency changes in the 2010 General Election

Electors in the west of North Norfolk voted for the new Broadland constituency at the 2010 general election. Recent changes to the parliamentary electoral boundaries meant that electors living in 25 parishes around Fakenham voted for the new Broadland constituency Member of Parliament instead of the MP for North Norfolk.

The election for the Broadland constituency was administered by the Acting Returning Officer Colin Bland, who is the Chief Executive of Broadland District Council. However, North Norfolk District Council’s electoral team still organised the poll, as well as the postal voting in the parts of the new constituency that fell in North Norfolk District. Polling stations were the same as for other elections. The ballot boxes and postal votes from the new area were transported to Broadland after the polls closed so they were included with the count for the rest of the new constituency.
The 25 parishes which were part of the Broadland Constituency were:

Barsham Briningham Dunton Fakenham Fulmodeston
Great Snoring Gunthorpe Helhoughton Hempton Hindolveston
Kettlestone Little Snoring Melton Constable Pudding Norton Raynham
Ryburgh Sculthorpe Stibbard Swanton Novers Tattersett
Thurning Thursford Walsingham Wighton Wood Norton
