Architectural Design Guidance

North Norfolk is a district immensely rich in architectural heritage with 81 conservation areas, over 2,200 listed buildings and 100 Scheduled Ancient Monuments. This built heritage is set within an outstanding natural landscape that includes a large Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and 45 miles of coastline. In the historic market towns and resorts of Fakenham, Cromer and North Walsham, the Council's Conservation and Design Team has been at the forefront of community regeneration initiatives where built heritage and conservation has been one of the main catalysts for economic revival and new prosperity.

North Norfolk District Council has a proven record in the conservation and improvement of its historic built environment. The Council's Conservation and Design Team are currently delivering a Townscape Heritage Initiative in Cromer and supporting a major seafront enhancement project worth £6 Million. The section's work in the district's other key towns and resorts has already been recognized nationally.
