North Norfolk District Council's Deputy Returning Officer only announced the number of votes for each party (and for the sole independent candidate) in North Norfolk. The winners were not known until the total number of votes from all Eastern Region districts were collected by the Regional Returning Officer at Huntingdon, where the final results were announced.

European Parliamentary Elections – 4 June 2009

The election for the seven MEPs to represent the Eastern electoral region of the European Parliament for the next five years is to be held on 4 June under a system of proportional representation.

The nomination process will be dealt with by the Regional Returning Officer (RRO) whose office is situated at Huntingdonshire District Council, Pathfinder House, St Mary’s Street, Huntingdon, Cambs. PE29 3TN (tel 01480 388073). Nominations may be delivered to the RRO between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm on any weekday from 28 April to 7 May. Nominations for the European election cannot be accepted by NNDC.


The poll for these elections will be combined on 4 June when polling will take place between the hours of 7 am to 10 pm. Electors will receive poll cards which detail the locations of their polling stations. Poll cards should be delivered to electors by 12 May.
