Equality Impact Assessments – Your comments sought
North Norfolk District Council has recently completed a series of reviews, called Equality Impact Assessments, of some of its services and policies to check that they are available equally to all members of the community. The reviews are part of the Council’s continuing efforts to support those groups who are disadvantaged or excluded, as well as to promote inclusivity and celebrate the differences in the North Norfolk community.
Equality Impact Assessments have so far been undertaken for the following services: Communities, Property Services, Environmental Services, Customer Services and Human Resources. They can be viewed on the North Norfolk District Council website http://www.northnorfolk.org/community/5556.asp and are all are available in alternative format and other languages on request.
The Council now wants to consult residents and interested groups on the findings and is seeking comments by 12 February 2010.
In addition to this consultation, NNDC is working with residents and community groups to explore the accessibility of the public areas of its Cromer Offices, to learn more about people’s experience of finding work, how comfortable they feel in their local communities and their experiences of influencing decisions about their local area. The Council is also working with the Shaw Trust to look at how user-friendly its recruitment process is for disabled people.
