Domestic Violence
White Ribbon Campaign
Violence against women is not just a women’s issue. Not only are men the main perpetrators of violence against women but the lives of partners, friends, sisters and daughters of men are damaged by violence and abuse.
At North Norfolk District Council we want to stamp out violence against women and this year we are supporting the White Ribbon campaign, selling ribbons to promote the message that domestic violence against women is out.
The White Ribbon Campaign is the largest effort in the world of men working to end male violence against women. For more information and to find ways you can help stop violence against women visit www.whiteribboncampaign.co.uk
Show your support and buy a ribbon which are available from our Leisure Centres.
Support for Victims of Abuse
North Norfolk District Council is actively working with the Police, Leeway Women’s Aid and other local authorities to help and support the victims of domestic violence. Support can be in the form of ‘Sanctuary’ – this can include providing security doors, moving letter boxes and supplying outside lights etc. or through outreach support, providing guidance to women who are still in an abusive relationship or have recently left partners on how to make choices about their situation and how to stay safe.
Making a safety plan is a way of helping to protect yourself and children. It helps to think of things in advance, to consider how you can increase your safety either within the relationship, or if you decide to leave.
