Community Groups

80% of people who live in North Norfolk take part in some form of community activity. Throughout the country there are nearly 16 million volunteers who are involved in every aspect of community life:

  • Arts
  • Sports
  • Environment
  • Befriending people
  • Providing all kinds of support to help people to live more comfortably.

They do it for all sorts of reasons:

  • Gain new qualifications
  • Develop self-confidence
  • Meet new people

Volunteering in North Norfolk

NVS (Norwich and Norfolk Voluntary Services) (www.nvs.org.uk) supports both individual volunteers and organisations. It has the most comprehensive database of voluntary and community groups in Norfolk.

Voluntary and Community Groups

vcs Together - North Norfolk (www.nvs.org.uk/vcs_together_nn) is a forum open to all voluntary and community organisations active in North Norfolk. Its aims are:

  • enable the sector to influence decisions concerning the way communities develop and public services are provided in North Norfolk
  • ensure the sector is appropriately represented in all discussions where its organisations have a legitimate interest
  • raise awareness of the sector and the contribution it makes in North Norfolk
  • identify local priorities for sector development
  • identify how those priorities can be met
  • stimulate collaboration among voluntary and community organisations by sharing information of best practice, training, funding and volunteer recruitment opportunities.
