The District Council is currently delivering the following in partnership with public and private organisations:

Virtual Business Support Project - If you have a micro business or are thinking of starting up a business, this project can provide you with training support on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and a laptop for up to six months to help you to immediately reap the benefits of ICT in your business.

North Norfolk Skills Partnership - This is a strategic group looking to maximize the benefit of the skills development resources available to North Norfolk. It consists organizations with a commitment to further learning and skills in North Norfolk and is represented by the public, private and voluntary sector. It has adopted the District Councils learning initiative, Learning 4 Everyone, as it delivery arm and is working to plug the skill needs gaps in the District through initiatives such as the IAG Learning & Skills Gateway.

IAG Learning and Skills Gateway - This is a project delivered by Learning 4 Everyone which is bringing information advice and guidance about training and work opportunities to venues in each of the market towns of the District. The aim is to provide a regular service that people will come to know and recognize as a first step in their personal development for the future. The service is client centred, that each individual receives the help and support that they need – one size does not fit all. Support ranges from helping people find out about local courses, through to indepth job search support , help with CVs and the such like. Since it began at the end of 2007, over 1000 have accessed the service with more than 50 gaining work.

Case Study contacted the project in January 2009 in Holt. He was unemployed and searching for work. He had a basic CV, lacked confidence, unhappy about being “released” from his employment and didn’t know where to start. Through the project he was helped to update and improve his CV and prepare for job interviews. In March he found new work - he commented that the CV “clinched” the job for him and that the employer was extremely impressed with the content and presentation. The CV gave him a marketing tool and he obviously impressed at interview.

Springboard to Work - This is an initiative designed to help work ready people make the final push to get into work. Learning 4 Everyone work in partnership with Workhouse and are delivering regular workshops across the District. It has been running since the Autumn of 2008 and has helped many find work.

Empower U - Learning 4 Everyone runs a number of Skills for Life courses, literacy and numeracy, from Merchant’s Place in Cromer. These are run on a roll on roll off basis with people working towards the National Tests qualifications. Since it began in mid 2007, some 90 people have gained a skills for life qualification, many have progressed from Level 1 to 2 in both Numeracy and Literacy. Call 01263 519454 for more information.

Biz Admin - Also running at Merchant’s Place since late 2006, Learning 4 Everyone is delivering Business Administration skills, including legal and medical secretary, text processing and many others up to Level 3. A local employer said “We are absolutely delighted that the staff are taking advantage of this opportunity which is benefitting the company”. Again many people have gained qualifications – more than 100 since it began. Please call 01263 519454 for more information.

North Norfolk Business Directory - This gives you a register of businesses located in the District which you can browse through a simple search interface by company name, town / postal town, business type or district ward. You can even register on the site if you wish to add your business if it is not there yet or if you want to edit or amend your existing entry there.

Information and Signposting Services - We can offer you assistance on getting further information about other business support organisations, programmes and projects that are available to meet your business needs and requirements.

Releasing Entrepreneurial Spirit Using (RESULT) - The project offers anyone in the Griffon area who is thinking about starting a business free coaching and support to help them overcome their hurdles and get on the road to success.
- Norfolk Coast and Broads Rural Development Programme - A wide range of projects are eligible for funding through this programme, but they must meet its aim to use the exceptionally high value environment and landscape of the area as a catalyst to business and community development and growth.
