The dilapidated caravan has now been demolished. With the assistance of Peter Bedell and Derek Sayer ably assisted by Tyrone Holmes, Jack Sadler and Callum Ringer the caravan was taken apart and we are now left with some wood which will become part of the Bonfire this November. Thank you to all who helped. The Log Cabin is now erected and fully functioning as a Clubhouse. Thanks are due to the Junior members who painted the Log Cabin with wood preserver both inside and out during the school holidays. This was well done and much appreciated.

League fixtures for 2008 are underway. We have played Downham Market both home and away. Losing 1-3 at Downham and winning 3-1 at home.

Bodham and Beckham Youth Club

Chairman - Callum Ringer 588486

Following the Annual General Meeting of the Bodham & Beckham youth club, held on March 25th, weekly club nights have been halted. It is hoped that this will only be a temporary measure, and it is intended to have the club re-opened in the next few months. At the AGM, Trina Gibbons and Suzi Burch did not seek re-election to the committee. We thank them for the tremendous effort they have put in over the last couple of years, it is very much appreciated.

Darren Burch and Jamie Baker have both agreed to continue on the committee, and they are joined by Callum Ringer, who rejoins the committee, in the position of Chairman. It was agreed that an Extraordinary General Meeting be called for Tuesday 13 May at 7pm to discuss the Clubs long-term future. The committee needs to have several more members by this date, or the club will face permanent closure.

URGENT PLEA: Can you join the committee? Bodham & Beckham youth club is only 2 years old. It would be a shame to loose this community asset. The club is viable, and it does have funds available. Please do not hesitate to get involved, contact a committee member if you are willing to join the committee, or come along to our Extraordinary General Meeting on Tuesday 13 May.

New trophies have been donated this year - more details nearer the date.

Community Speed Watch

In the recent Bodham Parish Plan Questionnaire 19 members of the community indicated their interest in taking part in Community Speed Watch.

A meeting of the Holt Area Partnership on the 5th December 2007, in Bodham Village Hall, was attended by two Police Officers, PC Ritchie Childs and PC Craig Knowles from the Safer NeigbourhoodsTeam who informed the meeting that plans were in place to operate a Speed Watch in our Parish.

The necessary equipment has been funded by the Holt Area Partnership (Radar Gun, Hi Viz jackets etc.) and specialist training will take place locally as soon as Sergeant Hood, Traffic Division based at Acle, can slot us in. Unfortunately, at the moment, Sgt. Hood is the only qualified trainer in Norfolk so it will not happen overnight but I have been assured it will be sooner rather than later. Watch this space.

When operational, teams will be set up, each consisting of three members of the community. One will use the Radar Gun, one will take the vehicle registration numbers and the other will be on standby. Details of how long each team is expected to operate and where, will be decided once all training has taken place.

I will keep you informed of progress in each Newsletter.

A representative, from the Local Police, will attend the next Parish Council Meeting, on Monday 4 February 2008 at 7.30pm, to discuss any concerns you may have and hopefully, update us on Speed Watch. Please come along.

Please contact me if you would like to be involved or if you require further information.

A number of community members have expressed concerns over lack of visits from the Police in the Village.

PC Childs & PC Knowles visited me on Sunday 6 January and I put the concern to them. They informed me that at least twice a day a visit is made either on foot, by car or on bikes. Also because of problems relating to access in Weybourne Road by Trade Vehicles and locals, they regularly patrol the vicinity.

Community Speed Watch - INSERTED 15 APRIL 2008

15 speeder-spotting volunteers turned up at Bodham Village Hall on 29th February for training.

Sgt. Andy Hood from Acle based Road Policing Unit, ably assisted by PC Ritchie Childs & PCSO Craig Knowles from Holt Safer Neighbourhood Team, launched the scheme.

Also in attendance was a representative from Structure-flex, of Melton Constable, who have sponsored 20 Radar Guns and equipment. (I incorrectly quoted Holt Area Partnership as sponsors in the Feb/March Village News, although I understand they would have sponsored had Structure-flex not been involved.)

The session in the Hall lasted 2hrs and, after a short tea break we all headed to the A148 for site training.

The first team went into action on Thursday morning 13 March.

There are 4 designated sites in the Village, 2 on the A148, The Street and Hart Lane.

The number of volunteers from our Village shows there is a real concern about speeding. Please contact me if you would like to be involved or if you require further information.

Bodham Parish Plan

There was a very good response to the request for volunteers to help with various events and ventures. All who responded have been thanked and will be contacted in the future.

Gradual progress is being made with the above. The Data is now all on computer and an analysis and report will be given to the Annual Parish Meeting on 12 May 2008 in the Village Hall meeting starts at 7pm.

When complete the Parish Plan document will be published and the intention is to have a community open meeting to distribute the booklet.

This will be followed by a further community meeting in the Village Hall to debate the document and discuss any concerns you may have.
