What is LHA?
Local Housing Allowance (LHA) is a new scheme designed to be a fairer and simpler way of calculating Housing Benefit for people on a low income. Local Housing Allowance came into effect on 7 April 2008.
The Local Housing Allowance amount is set when you make a claim and lasts for one year unless your household circumstances change. After a year the amount is reviewed.
