Youth Arts Award

The Arts Award is the first accredited youth arts scheme to recognise how young people develop as artists and arts leaders. Taking part in an Arts Award can help young people to develop creative and personal skills for further education or employment. The really exciting thing about the Arts Award is that it builds on your interest in any art form and measures your individual journey.
If you're aged 11 to 25 years and enjoy the arts, then the Arts Award may be the thing for you…
You can choose your art form and make your own plans, including improving your skills, seeing the work of other artists and running your own arts project. You'll share your work with other people by recording what you do. It's up to you how you do that - writing, photos, video, sound recording, in fact anything that counts as art!
There is no time limit to the award. You need to make it challenging but realistic and decide how long you want to take. You'll have an Arts Award adviser to support you. They won't tell you what to do, but will help you plan and work through the award. They can answer your questions and give you advice.
The Arts Award has three levels - Bronze, Silver or Gold - and you decide which level of the award you want to take.
For the Bronze award, you'll enjoy taking part in arts activities and sharing skills and interests with your group. This level works well for 11 to 14 year olds.
At Silver level, you'll set yourself a personal arts challenge, research your local arts scene, get involved in a community arts activity and plan an arts leadership project. Silver level sits well alongside GCSE or NVQ 2.
At Gold level, you'll show your originality. You'll develop your arts practise more independently and explore new art forms and genres. You're more likely to be over 16, working in a school or college, in an arts setting or perhaps on your own.

Arts Council England Artsmark Award for Schools

Artsmark is a national award scheme managed by Arts Council England that recognises schools with a high level of provision in the arts. The award scheme is open to all schools in England - primary, secondary, special schools and pupil referral units, both maintained and independent.
By gaining an Artsmark, a school shows its commitment to the wider development of young people and teachers and to raising the profile of the arts in the school and local community.
