![]() Cromer Pier Pavillion The Pavilion Theatre Cromer's most visited attraction, the 510 seat Cromer Pier Pavilion Theatre is best known for hosting the famous end of the pier show the "Seaside Special". The theatre also presents a high quality mix of comedy, music, dance, opera, musicals and community shows. As well as welcoming visitors to the area, the Pavilion Theatre is a resource for the local community and the theatre welcomes community hires as part of the diverse programme of events. There has been a Pier or jetty in Cromer since 1391. A partnership with Richard Condon in the late 1970's saw the creation of the 'Seaside Special' which has gone from strength to strength, becoming a traditional feature and "must see" for regular visitors to Cromer ever since. In 2000 the Pier was winner of "Pier of the Year Award" and in 2001 a new partnership was formed between North Norfolk District Council and entertainment and management specialists Openwide International. This partnership has grown in strength with a major part of this focusing on ways to extend the season and increase economic growth for the Pier and Cromer. One example of this is the introduction of the Christmas Seaside Special in 2005 which now looks set to continue in 2006 and beyond. In 2004 a redevelopment increased the seating capacity of the Pavilion to 510, added a restaurant called "Tides" boasting the best views in town, a shop known as "Footprints" and a superb new Theatre Bar with extension.
