Norfolk Music Works Norfolk Music WorksNorfolk Music Works is a charitable music organisation, committed to creative excellence, which works with rural communities to bring about community and individual development Our mission is to increase opportunity and access for all people to all types of music. We provide access to professional musicians with a belief in the importance of music within communities, and a desire to enable people to develop their own abilities whether latent or already evident. For 16 years we have provided activities, training, projects and residencies with a wide range of groups in Norfolk and beyond. This includes work with children and young adults both in the community and schools, people with disabilities, adults and older people. We operate a 'Community Programme' to develop arts activity in the community. This provides music-making opportunities including taster sessions, workshops, projects and residencies in a variety of musical genre, ranging from multicultural music (including Steel Pans, African Drumming, Samba and Gamelan), pre-school music, to voice, drumming, jazz, rock & pop and DJ skills. Participants can also become involved in more challenging projects, for example by the creation of new pieces of music with other groups either locally or perhaps within the whole borough. We work with visiting performing arts companies such as Grand Union Orchestra and The City Of London Sinfonia, which enables new experiences to be brought into a community. Details of our forthcoming music opportunities can be found on the website www.musicworks.org.uk
